Welcome to Soul Care
We understand that depression is a complex and debilitating condition that saps one’s will to live, wreaks havoc on your hope in the future and rains upon any happy event.
It runs deeper than sadness or even grief which is usually associated with a dashed hope or severe loss of someone or something important. Depression may ebb and flow in intensity but normally is an ongoing presence like a misty dark cloud.
How much is chemical imbalance, demonic influence, generational curse or a toxic environment is a complex issue. In a SoulCare prayer session we will heal any of the emotional root causes and discern what other factors are at play. It may take several prayer sessions to be fully relieved as a deep transformation of the mind is required. Yet there is spiritual healing available to get you started on your healing journey. Depression can be overcome!
The central issue for someone with depression is love. That you are deeply loved, and attached to someone whose love will always be there. That’s why the antidote is the bond of love to the source of love, God. One cannot just decide to get this; one has to experience it in a consistent manner. It begins with the mental ability to believe God is there, he sees, he cares and wills to love you.
You have another tool available: imagination. Imagine what a spirit-filled believer looks like when they are in the centre of God’s will. (This is a good exercise to do). Practice as many devotional activities as you can, pray for others, and go out on the street hunting for someone to bless. Eat well, do some exercises. Watch a positive movie on TV. Listen to good Christian teaching videos and take notes. Go to the library and find good healthy books to take out and read. Play some worship music and dance around, then turn the lights down low, put on a candle and so can you just invite the Lord to be present with you. Collect all the prophetic words ever said about you and write them down and say them out loud every day. Do a bible study and all your favourite promises you want filled in your life, write them down and pay them out loud and remind God these must be fulfilled in your life.
And one more thing: get out of bed early in the morning and offer up 5 minutes of thanksgiving. The issue of getting out of bed in a timely way is actually the centre point of breakthrough into a transformed life. Lying too long in bed is pure disobedience fuelled by unbelief.
See what the “beloved” disciple, John, had to say in his first epistle (chapter 3:1-3): “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.”
And in chapter 4:16-19: “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love each other because he first loved us.”
