“Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.” John 15:4
When you know how to abide in the love of God, life’s challenges are met head-on, even during sorrow and adversity. The peace and joy of Jesus in your soul cannot be compared with any earthly pleasure. And when things are going beautifully your way then David’s exclamation that “surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life” resonates completely with you.
Yet every day has its new challenges of remaining in the love of God. “Keep yourselves in the love of God,” said St. Jude (verse 21).
You must arise each day choosing afresh Jesus as Lord and Saviour. New distractions, old temptations, and harder circumstances will confront your peace and joy. If you remain in His love, however, your peace and joy will remain, and you will continue to walk in the light of the kingdom of God.
Demonic entities flit about trying to catch you out. Normally this is of no concern as your safety in salvation is assured, you have faith in the powerful name of Jesus, and you may even be aware of the particularly pathetic condition of those demonic beings. But if you fail to remain in His love, you then are vulnerable to doubts, fear, and negatively thinking of the enemy.
Here is how to not get caught off guard. Keep giving yourself a regular spiritual scan to be free of negative little viruses. This could be done several times an hour, and certainly more frequently in difficult circumstances. Thereby ensure you remain God-conscious, which means always ready to respond to God. You’re too late if you have to think about it when you need to respond to what He’s calling you to do.
